Plan a trip to San Antonio during Kidcation Week

Has your kid ever seen a dinosaur, laughed with a monkey, danced with a cartoon character or screamed from the top of a rollercoaster … all in one week?

It’s not too late to plan a trip to San Antonio for all this and more at Kidcation Week, August 12-18. You’ll find special offers on hotels, restaurants and attractions all over town, as well as special summertime events designed just for kids and their families!

Kidcation Week will feature over 20 special events for visitors to enjoy. Check out some highlighted events broken down day-by-day:

Monday, August 12

·         Kidcation Week Kick-Off Festival

§  Hemisfair Park:  200 S Alamo St 
Between 9:30am and noon families are invited to enjoy free music, entertainment, food, local celebrity sightings and more to celebrate the official kick off of Kidcation Week.

Tuesday, August 13

·         San Antonio River Authority

§  100 E Guenther,  210-302-3222
Bat Loco Bash-- During this special Kidcation Week event families can learn about bats as they watch them emerge from under the I-35 bridge along the Museum Reach of the San Antonio River. This special Bat Loco Bash will have food trucks, live music and fun children’s entertainment such as a kayak demonstration, planting seeds (kids can take plants home to watch them grow) and a visit from the San Antonio Zoo.

Wednesday, August 14

·         Movies By Moonlight

§  Hemisfair Park, 200 S Alamo St 
Enjoy free family movies in Hemisfair Park. Pre-show entertainment starts around 7:30 p.m. followed by a brief intermission, with the feature film beginning at 8:30 p.m. Make sure to bring your picnic baskets, lawn chairs and blankets.

 

Thursday, August 15

 

·         Kiddie Park

Come spend the day at America's oldest children's amusement park! Kiddie Park will be offering 50 cent ride tickets and $5.00 unlimited ride bands!  This deal will be offered at both Kiddie Park locations: the original on Broadway, and the brand new Kiddie Park PicaPica, located inside of PicaPica Plaza off of SE Military and Roosevelt. Park is open from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm. (Cannot be combined with any other promotions, discounts or coupons. Offer doesn't apply to parties).

From 9am to 1pm enjoy free children's book reading and children centered activities at the Twig and throughout the Pearl Farmers Market featuring seasonal treats, readings and music.

Sunday, August 18

·         LET’S READ! Kid’s Back to School Kidcation Finale

The Grand Finale of Kidcation Week is a Back to School Festival in “the heart of the city”, Main Plaza. From 9am to noon, families can enjoy make and take arts and crafts, airbrushing and hair styling, musical performances, storytelling, book giveaways, an instrument petting zoo and much more. So snag some cool back to school swag (while supplies last) and celebrate education and imagination at the Let’s Read! Kid’s Back to School Fest Kidcation Finale.
