Valero Alamo Bowl Tied to Seven of Top 25

The start of the 2011 college football season is less than a month away, and with that comes predictions on how teams will stack up against each other. Last week USA Today announced its Preseason Coaches’ Poll and the Valero Alamo Bowl has tie-ins with seven of the top 25 teams. The Big 12 Conference boasts five teams on the list, including the No.1 team Oklahoma, but also No. 8 Oklahoma State, No. 9 Texas A&M, No. 21 Missouri, and No. 24 Texas. The Pac-12 Conference adds two more to the top 10 with Oregon at No. 3 and Stanford at No. 6.

Just because teams have yet to play their first games of 2011, doesn’t mean it’s too early to make predictions about where their last kickoff will be. Besides, the end of the college football season is the Valero Alamo Bowl’s favorite time of year – Bowl Week! Media across the nation have already released their projections for who will be facing off in the 2011 Valero Alamo Bowl. Rivals.com has picked a matchup between Texas and Stanford in San Antonio, while Fox Sports is choosing Texas A&M vs. Arizona State for the Dec. 29th game.

See below for the full list of USA Today’s Preseason Coaches’ Poll and check future Bowl Insiders or the Valero Alamo Bowl website for updates and additions to 2011 college football polls.
