Valero Extends Title Sponsorship Through 2019 Game

The Valero Alamo Bowl announced today that Valero Energy Corporation has extended its title sponsorship for another six years through the 2019 game.

Valero is proud to extend its title sponsorship of the Valero Alamo Bowl,” said Valero Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Mike Ciskowski. “The game is a great event for San Antonio, and Valero has always supported major events that help make our hometown a better place to live and work.”

A sponsor of the Alamo Bowl since its inception in 1993, Valero became the title sponsor in 2007 with an original three-year commitment followed by a four-year extension for the 2010-2013 games.Valero has been a terrific partner since our first year, and we are ecstatic with their decision to renew their title sponsorship,” said Derrick Fox, President/CEO of the Valero Alamo Bowl. “As an admired industry and community leader, Valero’s commitment will be invaluable as we strive to make the next 20 years of Valero Alamo Bowls even more memorable than our first 20."

Over its history, the game has generated an estimated direct economic impact in excess of $394 million, contributed over $76 million to higher education and distributed over $1,000,000 in local scholarship funds.

This year's game is Monday, December 30 at 5:45 p.m. and will feature the #1 Pac-12 team against the #2 Big 12 team after the BCS selections. The 2014-2019 games will feature the #1 Pac-12 team against the #1 Big 12 team after the College Football Playoff.

"Valero is a perfect fit whose support has been instrumental in our efforts to grow our bowl game,” said Pat Frost, Chairman of the 2013 Valero Alamo Bowl. “When you couple the best title sponsor in the business with amazing transformation occurring in San Antonio’s Decade of Downtown, I’m excited to showcase our city to the Big 12 and Pac-12 universities, student-athletes and their fans."
