2019 Shining Star ENERGY Youth Football Clinic

The Valero Alamo Bowl conducted their 11th annual Shining Star ENERGY Youth Football Clinic on July 19th. Participants ages seven to fourteen traveled to the San Antonio area from as far as California. This annual free Youth Football Clinic gives kids a chance to learn and practice safety in sports and a variety of offensive and defensive skills.

Coaches from Trinity University, Texas Lutheran University, University of Incarnate Word, University of Texas at San Antonio, Judson High School, Johnson High School and Roosevelt High School, along with the following sponsors, Shining Star ENERGY, Pepsi, Tower of Americas, Battle for Texas, Rudy’s, Dave & Buster’s, UTSA Football, San Antonio Police and Whataburger, came together to create an unforgettable experience for this year’s participants.

The free clinic also included a parent presentation from USA Football on the importance of safety and health in football. The presentation was led by Brad Fitchel, a two time College Football All-American and former NFL player drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in 1993.

The 2019 Youth Football Clinic outstanding participants, or Shining Stars, selected by the coaches included: Matthew Love, Seohui Lee, Joshua Rangel, Elliot Keller, Mason Slusher, Jayden White and Yazmin Delgado.

This event would not have been possible without the dedication and generous donation from Sondra Grohman, Shining Star ENERGY President and CEO. Her drive to make a difference for the youth of San Antonio does not go unnoticed. With the help of Sondra, the Valero Alamo Bowl was able to further promote their goal to make football a safe and fun sport for all.
