Kenzi was born and raised in Cypress, Texas just outside of Houston. She graduated from the University of Mississippi just this May and moved to San Antonio shortly after to join the Valero Alamo Bowl team as this year’s Event and Hospitality Coordinator.
What is your favorite thing about living in San Antonio?
I like that there is always something to do or see around the city. I am new to the city so I still have so much of San Antonio to explore, but I love going out, trying new restaurants, and seeing different parts of the city that I never saw when I came to visit San Antonio growing up.
What path led you to this job?
I’ve recently graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Integrated Marketing Communications, a minor in general business, and a specialization in sports marketing. While I was at Ole Miss, I was a marketing and fan engagement intern for all Ole Miss Athletic teams which led me to my passion for wanting to work in sports and share my love of the game with fans. I was also a member of Pi Beta Phi at Ole Miss and was on committees that helped plan different events for our whole chapter which spurred my desire to work in events.
What has been your favorite part about working for the Valero Alamo Bowl?
My favorite part about working for the Valero Alamo Bowl is getting to meet and work with so many wonderful people who came together for their love of college football and want to give the best experience to the fans at our game and the events leading up to it. This position gives me the opportunity to combine both loves of sports and events into one job and so far it has been the best.
What do you like about event planning?
I love seeing how everything comes together at the end of an event and knowing my hard work has paid off. There are many steps that go into event planning, but to see others enjoy an event that I’ve helped put together is very rewarding. I can’t wait for Bowl Week. It’s going to be such a special time to see both universities and their fans enjoying everything that San Antonio and the Valero Alamo Bowl has to offer during the holiday season.
