The first full week of college football didn’t bring any surprises in the Big 12 as all 10 teams won. It marks the first season since 2012 that the Big 12 has gone undefeated in the first full weekend of games.
In the Pac-12 conference, four of the five ranked teams won (Utah, Washington, Stanford and Washington State), while Oregon dropped a heartbreaker to Auburn in Arlington 27-21 in the final seconds.
ESPN’s College GameDay will be in Austin for ABC’s broadcast of #6 LSU at #9 Texas this Saturday. The Valero Alamo Bowl also picked this game as our annual tailgate. The Tigers and Longhorns have faced off 18 times in the 150-year CFB history, but this will only be their second match up in the last 50 years. The last time these teams met was during the postseason at the 2003 Cotton Bowl where Texas won 35-25.
Projections have both teams evenly matched given they each finished the 2018 season with 10 wins and have started the 2019 season with big numbers on the board.
Texas defeated Louisiana Tech 45-14 while LSU defeated Georgia Southern 55-3. Although this game is only in Week #2 of the season, the outcome could have major playoff implications.
On the Pac-12 schedule, there are two early season conference games kicking off after LSU at Texas:
- Cal at #14 Washington (FS1)
- #23 Stanford at USC (ESPN)
