After surprising five teachers with grants for classroom resources, this year the Valero Alamo Bowl and PNC Bank is proudly awarding 30 grants to 30 dedicated teachers as part of the College Football Playoff Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers program.
Below is just a few of the winning teachers and the projects they will fund with their grants:
Raul Del Bosque (Crestview Elementary School)
Eaglenauts Astronomy Club: a new astronomy club will be created on campus. The grant will purchase items like a telescope and camera so students can have a hands on experience.
Wendy Howk (Kitty Hawk Middle School)
Making Movie Magic : She will be purchasing additional iPads to create movies in her maker space.
Amber Zapata (Candlewood Elementary School)
Science tools to learn and grow: science tools will help engage students and provide a hands on experience when learning science skills.
Brooke McGilloway-Shupe (Reagan High School)
She hope to purchase a team set of leotards/bodyliners to complete their formal football uniforms. This will allow our students to cheer and perform safely when participating in outdoor sports and activities especially during the colder months.
Steven Stolte (Churchill High School)
He is asking for a set of the HOOBRO Floating 39.4 inch shelves so that they can expand our trophy closet. Additionally, they are asking for two tabletote plus laptop stands that students use when they travel to debate tournaments.
Be on the lookout as we will announce more winners next week, and be sure to congratulate these outstanding teachers when you see them recognized at the Valero Alamo Bowl!
