Over 1000 of San Antonio’s youth registered to fill the Alamodome for the 10th annual Shining Star ENERGY Youth Football Clinic on July 20. Hosted by the Valero Alamo Bowl and underwritten by Shining Star ENERGY, this year’s camp featured the highest total of participants in the 10-year history of the free summer clinic.
Fifty-two coaches representing every area university and select high schools taught the participants various offensive and defensive drills before putting all their skills together at the combine station, where athletes tested their agility and stamina.
The coaches at each station also selected their “Shining Star” participant, one that showed determination, sportsmanship and exemplified what the clinic was about – building character with energy.
The campers ended the day by receiving a goodie bag that included a Shining Star ENERGY Youth Football t-shirt as well as a meal courtesy of Whataburger and refreshments from Gatorade.
