The Valero Alamo Bowl hosted the seventh annual Shining Star ENERGY Youth Football Clinic yesterday. Youth participants ages 5-14 performed a series of offensive and defensive drills, including a combine competition. Coaching staff from Trinity University, Texas Lutheran University, University of Incarnate Word and the University of Texas at San Antonio spent the afternoon teaching the San Antonio youth the nuances of the game.
Sondra Grohman, Shining Star ENERGY President, joined in on the fun, spending the afternoon at the clinic. Ms. Grohman is no stranger to serving the community, participating in numerous philanthropy initiatives and offering San Antonio’s youth opportunities to grow. In addition to serving as the title sponsor for the clinic, Ms. Grohman has also participated in the Valero Alamo Bowl Scholarship Program, awarding two $10,000 scholarships. Ms. Grohman’s generosity and philanthropy also make her the perfect recipient of the 2015 San Antonio Business Journal Women’s Leadership Award which she will be honored with next month.
We’d like to thank Shining Star ENERGY for serving as the title sponsor for the event and Whataburger for providing a delicious lunch for our participants.
