Valero Alamo Bowl and Las Palapas announce Friday Night Lights Partnership

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – This fall, the Valero Alamo Bowl is teaming up with Las Palapas to shine a spotlight on local high schools and their districts through the Friday Night Lights presented by Las Palapas campaign. Ten high school football games across the greater San Antonio area have been selected for a weekly spotlight, delivering the schools and Las Palapas meaningful exposure as well as community impact opportunities.

As part of the partnership, Las Palapas will have its mobile food trailer on-site each week, and a percentage of sales will directly support the local booster club or school district foundation. The Valero Alamo Bowl will also award weekly teacher grants, totaling $5,000 in support of local classrooms ($500 in teacher grants awarded each week).

“Las Palapas has been a staple in San Antonio for decades, and we’re proud to partner with a company that means so much to our community,” said Valero Alamo Bowl President/CEO Derrick Fox. “We’re excited to showcase several high school games, connect with fans, and work alongside Las Palapas to make a positive impact this fall.”

“In San Antonio, Friday night football is more than a game, it is a tradition that brings our community together,” said Las Palapas CEO Wayne Detmar. “Since 1981, Las Palapas has been serving the families and fans who make those Friday nights unforgettable. Partnering with the Valero Alamo Bowl is a natural fit, and we are excited to celebrate the schools, student-athletes, educators, and communities that make high school football such a special part of life in South Texas.”
