The Valero Alamo Bowl welcomed leaders from all 41 bowl organizations to San Antonio for Bowl Season’s Annual Meeting in April. The three-day conference provided an opportunity for bowl staffs to collaborate, share best practices, and discuss ways to strengthen the postseason experience for student-athletes, fans, sponsors, and host communities across the country.
As part of the event, the Valero Alamo Bowl partnered with Bowl Season and the College Football Playoff Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers program to invest in local education. More than $30,000 in classroom funding and teacher recognition awards were distributed at Sidney Lanier High School, Beacon Hill Primary School, and Edgewood Fine Arts Academy, continuing the bowl’s commitment to supporting San Antonio educators and students.
Since partnering with the CFP Foundation in 2021, the Valero Alamo Bowl has steadily expanded its local impact reaching a milestone of 200 San Antonio teachers supported through classroom grants with this latest round of recognitions.
The conference concluded with the annual Bowl Bestie Awards, where the Valero Alamo Bowl was recognized for the nation’s Best Bowl Week Event. The honor celebrated the Ricos River Rally, a signature San Antonio tradition that continues to be one of the most distinctive and fan-friendly events in bowl season, bringing together teams, bands, cheerleaders, and fans on the River Walk while showcasing the spirit of college football and strength of San Antonio as a host city on a national stage.
