Touchdown for Teachers: Honoring Local Educators

Touchdown for Teachers is a postseason initiative created to support local educators by providing funding for health, sports, and fitness resources. During every College Football Bowl Game and Playoff Game, the College Football Playoff Foundation and ESPN donate 1,000 dollars for every touchdown scored. These funds are then distributed directly to teachers and coaches within the host city. The Valero Alamo Bowl is proud to participate in the program and help recognize the educators who make a daily impact on San Antonio students.

How Touchdown for Teachers Works

Touchdown for Teachers is powered by the College Football Playoff Foundation and ESPN Citizenship. For every touchdown scored during all Bowl Games and College Football Playoff games, both organizations donate 1,000 dollars to teachers and coaches within the game’s local community. After the postseason ends, the total funds generated are distributed directly to educators in each bowl host city. These funds help teachers purchase classroom tools, athletic and fitness resources, technology, STEAM materials, reading supplies, and other essentials that support student success.

The Valero Alamo Bowl participates in this initiative by collaborating with the CFP Foundation and ESPN to ensure that San Antonio educators receive direct support. The program highlights the important role teachers play in shaping students and strengthens the connection between college football and the communities that host bowl games.
