The inaugural ?Fill the Bowl? promotion with the San Antonio Food Bank, Valero Alamo Bowl and Valero was an overwhelming success today as the food drive generated over $2,200 and six pallets of non-perishable food items (equivalent to half of a semi-truck) in three hours. Held at the Alamodome, people donated 10 cans of non-perishable food or $10 to the Food Bank to receive a pair of tickets to next Monday?s Valero Alamo Bowl courtesy of Valero. ?Valero?s generosity in underwriting the tickets was matched by the hundreds of warm-hearted San Antonio residents who braved the cold to help out the Food Bank,? said Valero Alamo Bowl President and CEO Derrick Fox. ?We?re ecstatic with the final numbers for this first-time event and glad all 600 tickets found a home in such a short period time. It was a great example of people stepping up to help others during a time of need.? The 2008 Valero Alamo Bowl is Monday, December 29 at the Alamodome. The game matches #23 Missouri against #20 Northwestern. Tickets to the game are available on www.alamobowl.com or at Ticketmaster.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the Alamodome Box Office Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.
